If you sell or provide digital content over the internet then you will realize the potential for your content to be shared. This impacts your business in two ways. Your sales revenue falls and your bandwidth bill increases.
The download manager is an anti-leech solution for anyone who is selling content from their web site or from marketing digital content using sites like ebay.
With the download manager you store your content outside of your web site, above the HTTP level, so it’s not possible for anyone to access the files directly from your web site.
When you get an order you select the file or files and then you can select any or all of the following:
Set a value for how many times the file can be downloaded
Set a limit on the number of days within which the file can be downloaded
Restrict the IP address range of computers that can download the file.
So for example, if you have 10 files for sale you can store them in a non-public folder on your server, then you might select two files and decide that each file can be downloaded a maximum of two times within the next three days.
Download manager then creates a long encrypted URL; you then send the URL to your customer who then downloads the product.
If for some reason the customer has difficulties downloading the file then an error message is displayed requesting that they contact you.
The download manager system requires PHP version 4 or above and MySQL database capability.
